PNB cuts batch processing by 75% after two-year core banking over
This frees IT teams from late-night monitoring and troubleshooting.
Philippine National Bank (PNB) has completed its two-year modernization of its core banking system, leading to the elimination of production slowdowns and a reduced processing time.
The bank has upgraded to IBM’s z/OS platform and also now uses the IBM Resource Access Control Facility (RACF).
Since going live, PNB is said to have eliminated production slowdown entirely, from twice per month to zero, according to a joint press statement by PNB and IBM on 25 May 2026.
Nightly end-of-day pre-processing validation time was reduced from five hours to two hours, whilst batch processing time decreased by nearly 75% from 13 hours to just three hours, it added.
This frees IT teams from late-night monitoring and troubleshooting and allowing them to focus on other critical tasks, PNB and IBM said.
PNB and IBM has been partners for 27 years, according to Constantino Yap, SVP and group head for digital channel management and innovation at PNB.
