DBS Bank India names Rajat Verma as CEO
Verma will succeed Surojit Shome, who is retiring on 28 February.
DBS has named Rajat Verma as chief executive officer of DBS Bank India, effective 1 March 2025.
Verma is currently the head of the institutional banking group (IBG) of DBS Bank India.
He succeeds Surojit Shome, who is retiring on 28 February 2025, after nearly a decade in the role. Shome is credited for expanding the India franchise, including the launch of digibank, India’s first mobile-only bank in 2016.
Shome notably led the subsidiarisation of DBS in India in 2019, and the amalgamation of Lakshmi Vilas Bank in 2020.
Verma will join the DBS Group Management Committee. He brings 27 years of work experience in the new role, having served a variety of roles in consumer and corporate banking.
