Hong Kong central bank warns against unauthorized finance firm
The firm reportedly does not have authorization to take deposits.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has warned against a firm named “Greenland Finance Company Ltd” operating through a specific website address, saying that it is not authorized to carry out a banking business in Hong Kong.
The firm, which operates through https://greenlandfinance-hk.com, does not have the Monetary Authority’s (MA) authorization under the banking ordinance to carry on banking business or the business of taking deposits in Hong Kong, the HKMA said in a statement posted on its website.
HKMA reminded the public that a list of authorized institutions is available on its website.
They may also check the status of any entity which holds itself out as authorized by the HKMA by emailing the HKMA’s public enquiry service at [email protected].
