Philippine bank lending surges 11.7% to $281b by end-2025

Loan loss coverage ratio coverage is 97.2%.

Philippine bank lending expanded by 11.7% to $281.45b (PHP17.1t) in the second half of 2025, according to central bank data released in April 2026.

Total assets of banks in the Philippines grew by 8.9% to $492.12b (PHP29.9t) as of December 2025.

Whilst slower than the 2024 growth of 9%, its continued growth in assets continued to outpace the expansion of the economy, said the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Banks’ non-performing loan (NPL) ratio, or the proportion of bad loans to total loans, stood at 3.1% as of end-December 2025. Loan loss coverage ratio is 97.2%.
